HOW TO | make orange Christmas ornaments

Or an orange garland!

It's my favourite time of year - December! Christmas is close which means it is time to make the house feel festive. I decided I wanted to do something a little different with my Christmas tree theme this year and incorporate dried orange slices. My original thought was an orange garland but as I went on I decided the slices would look so adorable as hanging 'ornaments'. You can see the completed look on our house instagram @valhalla.house but here's how I achieved the perfect dried orange slices. The best bit? They're also a fabulous addition to cocktails!

1. Preheat the oven to 75 degrees (Celsius)
2. Slice oranges. Dry with paper towel and lay on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
3. Will need 4-6 hours in the oven depending on how juicy they are.
4. Try to flip them at least a couple of times while in the oven so they dry evenly (and more likely to stay flat - they can curl).
5. Once you pull them out of the oven, leave them at least overnight to ‘cool’
6. Cut your ribbon or twine to the length you’d like. Use a skewer to poke a hole into the orange (and follow up with a chopstick if you need a slightly larger one) - thread your ribbon through and tie.
7. Use them to decorate your tree, wreaths and garlands (or add to your spicy margarita!) 🎄 You can even add extras like cinnamon sticks or rosemary sprigs.
